Dr. Larry PribylDr. Larry Pribyl

Dr. Larry Pribyl has been in private practice for over 34 years. He practices with a special interest in treating head, neck, and facial pain and sleep apnea. His training comes from experts in these fields, where he has acquired hundreds of continuing education hours in post-graduate studies, including craniofacial pain treatment and dental sleep medicine.

He performs quality evaluations and documentation for diagnosing and treating snoring, sleep apnea, and TMJ patients in Lee’s Summit, MO. He manages sleep apnea using oral appliance therapy. His office is equipped with state-of-the-art technology that tests airway volume. This helps assess the effectiveness of oral appliance therapy. He uses this test before treatment to see if you’re a good candidate for oral appliance therapy and during treatment to check whether the oral appliance is achieving its goal. These measurements let Dr. Pribyl customize oral appliance therapy for every patient.

For TMJ treatment, our equipment can measure the position of the jaw joint (temporomandibular joint), jaw joint health, and muscle activity. Dr. Pribyl utilizes functional sonography to objectively measure jaw joint sounds. The Myotronic K7 equipment provides our patients with accurate neuromuscular assessments. He also offers the Galileos 3D CT scanning for his patients. CT scanning gives detailed images of your jaw joints, teeth, and other structures to improve treatment planning and assessment. This comprehensive toolkit helps Dr. Pribyl effectively diagnose TMJ.

The number one goal in the office is to offer and perform the best quality of care available. The total health of the patient is of utmost importance. The office philosophy involves a conservative approach, which includes a multi-disciplinary network with other healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, chiropractors, and more. Working with other healthcare professionals allows us to deliver comprehensive care for TMJ disorders to help patients achieve maximum results. The office staff is well-trained, friendly, and takes a genuine interest in patient comfort and quality of care.

How to Find a Reputable Sleep Dentist or TMJ Dentist in Lee’s Summit

If you’re looking for a reputable sleep dentist or TMJ dentist in Lee’s Summit, here are a few steps you can take.

  • Ask for recommendations: Your doctor may not know much about TMJ, but they likely know a little about TMJ dentists. The sleep doctor you’re working with for CPAP may also know sleep dentists. These doctors may be able to recommend dentists who have helped their patients. Also ask friends and family if you know any who have dealt with these issues before.
  • Go online: If you have some recommendations, start by checking out the websites of those dentists. If you don’t have personal recommendations, you can use search engines to find possible dentists. Assess the credentials of each dentist you’re considering, including:
    • Years of experience treating TMJ and sleep apnea
    • Certifications in TMJ and sleep apnea treatment
    • Membership in professional associations related to these disorders
  • Schedule consultations: Once you’ve got three potential dentists, contact them to schedule consultations. You want to find someone you trust for their professionalism and expertise and someone you feel comfortable working with.
